Great 200 level book!

This book was easy to follow and was recommended by my teacher is a 200 level pathophysiology class.This book came quickly, before the estimated arrival day. The post test ant the end of each chapter was very helpful before quizzes and exams. I would highly recommend this book.

This book is a dumb-ed down version of all things science.
It has a confusing organization and if you have a poor instructor as well, you're lost.
If you're an instructor looking to buy a book for human diseases.......don't buy this one. Even if it is for undergrads, go ahead and buy a more vamped up version, who cares if those little brats whine that its too hard. Tell them to deal with it and man up and make them start the mass memorization of disease.

If you're a student and you're stuck buying this book, I'll pray for your soul.

received the wrong book 2 days before my class

I went to the trouble of getting ISBN numbers, title, author, what edition, made sure the picture was correct etc. No margin for error right? Wrong! I received the wrong text book edition. It was supposed to be paper back and I received hard cover. The author was correct but why did you send me different ISBN numbers without notifing me? I received the book 2 days before the start of my class and needless to say I was out of luck. When you think you've crossed the t's and dotted the i's and you pass off the wrong book for the sake of a sale you loose in the long run. Learned my lesson

Payne's translation is superior because it corrects nearly 1,000 errors and omissions in the Haldane-Kemp translation, and it is based on the definitive 1937 German edition of Schopenhauer's work prepared by Dr. Arthur Hübscher. Payne's edition is the first to translate into English the text's many quotations in half a dozen languages. It is thus the most useful edition for the student or teacher.

For 70 years, the only unabridged English translation of this work was the Haldane-Kemp collaboration. In 1958, a new translation by E. F. J. Payne appeared that decisively supplanted the older one. Payne's translation is superior because it corrects nearly 1,000 errors and omissions in the Haldane-Kemp translation, and it is based on the definitive 1937 German edition of Schopenhauer's work prepared by Dr. Arthur Hübscher. Payne's edition is the first to translate into English the text's many quotations in half a dozen languages. It is thus the most useful edition for the student or teacher.

The greatest Philosopher ever lived

Schopenhauer is definitly the greatest philosopher ever lived. This book is his only masterpiece. Building on Kant's thing-in-itself Schopenhauer created the concept of the "Will". All of Schopenhauer philosophy revolve on a single idea which is the "Will" getting aquainted of itself in all its objectification. "The World as Will and representation Volume I" contains the main body of his philosophy. Vol. II and all the rest of his books is just an illumination and expantion of the concept of the Will outlined in Vol I. As a prerequisit he demands that his reader must be familiar with his introductory book "The fourfold root of the principle of suffecient reason" that explains how our intellect works, percieve and makes a mental pictures (representation). Because he is building on Kant's philosophy he also demands from the reader to be familiar of his critisism of it. Schopenhauer considers Kant to be the greatest philosopher before him for his philosophy about metaphysics, thing-in-itself and the combination between the will's necessity and freedom that never been established before.
Idealism is the basis of Schopenhauer's philosophy that is why it is difficult to understand from the first reading. His book must be red at least twice and by reading his other books which is variation on the same theme, his philosophy gets clearer.
The philosophy of Schopenhauer deals with metaphisics therfore could not be complete. I recommend a good book that tries to complete Schopenhauer's work. The Will's Harmonic Motion: The Completion of Schopenhauer's Philosophy. The reader will find in it a fresh look at Schopenhauer great philosophy and takes the concept of the will to its limit and conclusion.

You Must Decide For Yourself

I read the first paragraph and had to put the book down for a week to think about it before I went on. Schopenhauer's theory is existentialist fodder for a lifetime. An abstract thinker's bible. The intensity of this work may prove to be contemplation for an eternity. Without going into my personal interpretation -- because I believe we all see things from a different perspective - one thing I can say is that The World as Will and Representation will start some cranial fireworks!

"Go, walk with her through the gardens." Jean motioned towards the entrance, waving them on.

"Please, Julian," she whispered. "Are you going to tell me why you left me all alone?"
"I'm sorry I wasn't there this morning." His voice was contrite, but there was also a tone of excitement in it.
"Did you even come back last night?" She frowned.
"No. Wait, Shannon, hear me out."
"I'm not sure if I should." Her hand tensed on his elbow, and she felt him caress her arm soothingly. Well, she wasn't going to be soothed with just a touch. Even if it was his touch.

Jean yelled out from thirty feet behind them. "To the left! Towards the fountains!"
They turned at the corner, Julian helping her up the steps and onto the new path edged with roses.
"I was on a secret mission."
"What mission?" So he hadn't been drinking. That was the biggest relief. Shannon felt herself untense. As long as he was okay, she would be okay. They would be okay.
"Before I reveal my secret mission, I need to tell you something else.""What?" Shannon wanted to put her hands on her hips, but she thought it would be decidedly not-eighteenth-century enough. Julian stopped at the top of the fountain. The water sprayed from the statues, and the small gusts of wind blew a fine mist over them. Shannon closed her eyes and tilted her face blissfully up to the sun as the cool mist bathed her skin.
"Shannon," Julian said. She looked back at his face, now serious. Her stomach sank. It must be bad.
"Yes?" She almost didn't want to know. Julian cupped her face with one palm, his large hand cradling her head. His other hand circled her waist protectively around the bustled fabric.
"You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.�I was on a secret mission last night to get you a present. Asher helped me. So please don't worry. It wasn't anything bad."A present? Shannon opened her mouth to speak, but Julian pressed a finger to her lips.
"Shannon. Let me finish. You are the most talented and beautiful woman I've ever met, and I can't imagine spending a minute without you. You're so kind and so gentle, and I could never have hoped to meet someone as wonderful as you. I know I'm not perfect, but I'll try to be perfect for you.
Tears welled up in Shannon's eyes, and she fought to keep them down, if only for the sake of the photographs.

Sweet ending!

First let me say that I love this series. It's been fun and passionate in all the right ways. Overall a great ride. I'm sorry to see it end, but I thought this was a great ending for the characters. You can feel Shannon's growing tension and angst early on, and then watch it transform and unfold around her into a stunning proposal in the midst of the palace. Everything was just beautiful, and I felt like I was there, watching a little misty-eyed at the edge of the fountain. Then there was the long, sexy epilogue that sweetened the deal just a little bit more. A perfect HEA for Shannon and Julian.

ok..just ok...i got this then i read the entire series as a boxed set...together as a set is the best way to go...
Story was ok...I liked it but i was often left wondering what she saw in the self pitying Julian ..who doesn't
seem to learn very easily from his mistakes and for a song write seems to have VERY POOR communication
skills...

Easy read. Helped me see where I see how ...

Easy read. Helped me see where I see how I can become a better version of myself. I couldn't speed read this book. It made me slow down and think about how and where I can improve where I want to go. Kelly creates new ways on how you can refocus and not feel bad about failing, but look at how to get back on track. Always positive reinforcement. Great book.

Five stars goes to the author for a genuine effort to help the human condition. The author’s bedrock of become the-best-version-of-ourselves colors the entire work. The book is full of solid messages like “Consciously, subconsciously, semiconsciously, we are all preoccupied with this attempt to be more perfectly who we really are at the essence of our being.”
“Truth lived becomes wisdom” and “Take care of the pennies, and the dollars will take care of themselves” are both foundational references. Kelly’s thoughts on character like the world of ego is an illusion provide resourceful insight. “The sum of all human action is passed down through history” is right on. Time is an illusion and quotes from Plato and our own frame of references regarding ”unchanging that allows us to make sense of the change” ring true.
The concept of self-discipline is emphasized. I liked the ideas on fasting like fasting from criticizing yourself and others. His writing on simplicity, humility, and vulnerability are linked to the importance of spirituality. And there is more. I highly recommend this book

POSSESSION is the second installment in Jennifer Lyon's contemporary romantic/erotic Plus One Chronicles series. Possession continues the story three days after The Proposition where Sloane proposes more than a plus-one relationship with Kat-he wants to help her overcome her fear and anxiety following an attack more than six years ago, that has left her with permanent injuries and PTSD. Trying to keep their relationship at the Plus One stage is difficult when the heart falls fast and hard.

Sloane Michaels is an ex-UFC fighter with a past haunted by the murder of his sister and the reality of his best friend's illness. Hoping to keep his past a secret, Sloane fails miserably when he willingly reveals everything to Kat. Kat neither manipulates nor threatens Sloane, but her need to help and listen, tug at Sloane's heart and soul. Their Plus One relationship becomes something more.

Throughout the series, Kat must face the trauma and truth about the attack that left her near death and without any memory of that time. I wish this series of books were sold as one book....

This is one book they just cut it down into three parts so that you get hooked and pay more than you would for one book.
the first one was 2.99 then the second and then the third... this book is the size of one regular novel. Each of the books just cuts off in the middle of the story. It pissed me off. I would rather not buy another of her books because of this sneaky ploy to make more money. I would have paid 7 dollars outright for this book. Rather than have them manipulate the readers.

I love this series! Possession is the second book in The Plus One Chronicles and picks up where the first book, The Proposition, left off. The series should be read in order. The Plus One Chronicles is full of drama, danger, mystery, and smoking hot romance. Sloane is the ultimate sexy alpha male and pushes past all Kat’s barriers in this book. I love them together. Not only do they have chemistry and passion that will leave you sweating, but Sloane helps Kat become stronger and to get past her fears while also giving her the skills to protect herself. They both have tragedies in their pasts that are coming back into their lives in this book. Most women want to use Sloane for his money, power and connections. Kat is the first plus one relationship he has had that only wants the man, and this is making him want to possess all of her. Jennifer Lyon makes you really feel and love these characters. I can’t say enough good things about this series. They have everything I look for in great books. Possession has an intriguing plot, great characters, danger, mystery and a great love story. I loved it and can not wait for the third book, Obsession, to be released in September. Jennifer Lyon is one of my favorite authors because she always delivers a great romance story and she definitely delivered with Possession. I recommend this book, and this series for anyone looking for a great story with lots of smoking hot romance.

About the Author
Paul Mobley is an award-winning photographer recognized worldwide for his compelling portraits of celebrities and extraordinary Americans. His 2008 book, American Farmer: Portraits from the Heartland (Welcome), garnered an impressive collection of awards: the Independent Book Award for Outstanding Book, the Red Rose Publishing Award, and the Cowboy Hall of Fame Award for Outstanding Book.

Allison Milionis is a writer, editor, and the author of Horse Sanctuary. Her stories, essays, and interviews have appeared in national and international publications, in books, on radio, and online.

Norman Lear, age 94, began his television writing career in 1950. He is best known for producing the Emmy Award–winning All in the Family, as well as Sanford and Son and The Jeffersons.

Not very descriptive - page long stories

I was a but disappointed as I thought the stories would be more in depth, bony half a page! At most a story was maybe two pages... another thing I didn't enjoy was the language it was written in, it was pretty simple and non descriptive. It sounded as an outsider with limited information was writing the story. Otherwise a fun read when you have some time.

Absolutely an amazing and beautiful collection of portraits of some of the most amazing people on earth! There is much to learn from those who have experienced the entire 1900's in America, that's a whole lot of wisdom!

Beautiful Book

It's a very special book for me and my family. My Grandmother and Great Uncle are on page 44. Of course their stories are extra special to us.
The book is beautiful and full of wonderful stories from some very wise people that have lived through lots of changes in our country. Anyone that loves photography and history will enjoy this book.
