About the Author
Neil G. Bauman, Ph.D., (Dr. Neil) is the executive director of the Center for Hearing Loss Help in Pennsylvania. He is a hearing loss coping skills specialist, researcher, author and speaker on issues pertaining to hearing loss. No stranger to hearing loss himself, he has lived with a life-long severe hereditary hearing loss. Dr. Neil did not let his hearing loss stop him from achieving what he wanted to do. He earned several degrees in fields ranging from forestry to ancient astronomy (Ph.D.) and theology (Th.D.), in addition to his extensive studies in fields related to hearing loss. For the past number of years, Dr. Neil has researched a variety of hearing loss issues, including extensive studies into the effects of ototoxic drugs on our ears. His mission is helping hard of hearing people understand and successfully cope with their hearing losses and other ear conditions. To this end, he provides education, support and counsel to hard of hearing people through personal contact, as well as through his books, articles, presentations and seminars. Dr. Neil is the author of eleven books and more than six hundred articles on hearing-loss related topics. He is also a dynamic presenter, and speaks throughout the USA and Canada.

Well Worth the price!

Neil Bauman has done an extensive and superlative job researching the topic of Ototoxic Drugs.
I was at first surprised by the price of the book, until I received it.... It's an 800 page Manual/ Bible!
It's already saved me from some compromising situations. As I already have SNHL in one ear with a nerve damage/
processing issue. Truly, I cannot afford to make a mistake with any highly Ototoxic Medication, ever.
Thank you Mr. Bauman for this essential book! I hope more people, especially in the health care field find out about it!

upgrade

I am a physician and a tinnitus patient myself. I think this book is a great contribution for prescription practice, but I would suggest an upgrade to it. Opening books in front of a patient, before prescribing, is embarassing for both the doctor and the patient. And memorizing all the medications contained in this book is obviously impossible. I suggest creating an electronic version of Ototoxic Drugs, so the doctor could rapidly consult it in his computer.

For anybody who values their hearing

I am a singer who suffered some hearing loss a few years ago. I don't know entirely what the cause was, but I suspect that some medications I was taking may have had an effect. Neil Bauman makes it possible for me to take my health into my hands now with this wonderfully comprehensive book which discusses not only medication, but chemicals and herbs as well. Hearing loss and disorders are not considered major side effects and doctors rarely note them; this book will let you know once and for all how much risk is involved with any medication.
