Wonderful, amazing emotional ride

There are so many superlatives about this book, I’m not sure where to begin. Author Niki Jilvontae has that rare ability to make you feel every human emotion and she won’t let go. The character development is amazing. The main character Lakea pulls at your heartstrings like you’re a marionette.
Lakea has that most precious of human attributes; passion. Passion is what makes her love deeply but it is also what continually gets her into trouble. We know and feel there is a big and loving heart inside her but due to circumstances far beyond her control, there is a coat of armor around her heart. It’s a gripping, emotional rollercoaster from the first to the last sentence. Warning: there may be a few parts that will make you teary eyed.
It starts out intense and builds from there. There is also a story within a story here. There is the story of a beautiful child who loses her innocence in the most brutal way. She spends most of her young life trying to navigate a brutal environment while carrying this emotional baggage. The story within this story is the romance between Lakea and the only love of her life, Jeremy. The romantic and the sexual parts of the story are real and among the best I’ve ever read. I highly recommend this emotional page-turner.

NIKI GIRL, STAND AND TAKE YOUR BOW BECAUSE I'M GIVING YOU A STANDING OVATION! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN READERS! ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THIS READ WILL BRING OUT EVERY KNOWN EMOTION YOU HAVE. LAKEA AND HER BROTHERS UNDYING LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER, ALL ALL THE MISFORTUNE WAS EXCELLENTLY WRITTEN AND MADE FOR ONE HE'LL OF A BOOK.

A broken Girls Journey!

Took me a minute to finish this book. I had to re-read cause I guess my reading was a little off for the week. Anyways, ended up being a good story after all. Lakea has gone through a lot and ahs lost a lot of love ones I am hoping something good can work out for her in part 2 (REVENGE). great READ!
